Hello all! This blog will be sort of steampunky, sort of rambling, sometimes relating to coming things or the cutting edge of science, and usually combined in strange and unusual ways. A Penny Farthing is a type of bicycle by the way, the type with one big giant wheel in the front, which seem insane until you understand the technology at the time and the physics involved, and it really is a good way to make a bicycle. My blog is kind of like that. (p.s. I really want a penny farthing)

Random Post Because This is Cool
So I just finished reading Seal Team Six. If you didn't think Navy SEALs were awesome before, well, you must not have been paying attention, but reading this book will get you up to speed. Anyway, as I was reading it, I looked up pictures of some of the weapons and aircraft in the book. Here is an awesome picture of an AC-130 gunship shooting flares and creating a giant eagle-looking cloud of smoke:

Ah, the AC-130 Spooky. It's basically a flying semi...loaded with more weapons than Ted Nugent's dreams.
ReplyDeletePersonally I prefer the USMC's Force Recon to the Navy SEALs, but both are our liberty-ninjas, along with the Army's Rangers and Green Berets and the Air Force's Special Ops Command (plus the Marine Special Operations Regiment, which like the SEALs and unlike Force Recon is under SOCOM).
But nevertheless "Semper Fidelis", the only motto Marine units use, is much cooler than "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday" or "It Pays to Be a Winner", which are the SEALs' mottoes.
Indeed, all the various Liberty Ninjas are impressive. Another thing I learned from that book was that the Dept. of Energy has snipers that can compete with SEALs and Force Recon. Don't try to sneak into a nuclear plant....
